10-minute Summer Solstice Guided Reflection
I have shared this guided reflection during our men’s gathering last Sunday, during the celebration of Summer Solstice.
The Mid-Year Audit: Why This Solstice Carries a Different Kind of Fire
This year, the Summer Solstice happened to land on Father’s Day. And whether you have a wonderful relationship with your own dad, a complicated one, or none at all, there is something deeply soothing about the archetype of a good father.
It’s the warm, steady, unhurried hand on your shoulder that looks at you and says:
“Put the heavy bags down for a second. Look how far you’ve walked. I’m proud of you.”
Our world is so desperately short on that specific, grounded, holding energy right now. We live in a culture that acts like a frantic supervisor—constantly asking us what we’ve produced, what we’re optimizing, and what’s next on the list. We are rarely offered a safe place to just lean back and be witnessed.
The Solstice sun offers us that exact warmth. It isn't a harsh spotlight checking our mid-year productivity; it is a giant, golden fireplace inviting us to sit.
You just have to give yourself the permission to pull up a chair.
